AI Concept Design- The Leviathan Light
Product Concept: “Leviathan Light”
Style: Art Deco, Neo-Noir
Brand: Rapture Industries
Inspirational Designer: Ken Levine (Creative Director of BioShock)
The “Leviathan Light” is a tabletop lamp that takes conceptual inspiration from both the Lovecraftian elements of unknowable horror and the Art Deco aesthetic of the BioShock game series. The base of the lamp is designed to evoke the image of a monstrous sea creature, the Leviathan, with tentacles that curve upwards to support the light source. The tentacles could be rendered in a dark, brushed metal to give a sense of the darkness and mystery of the sea depths.
The lampshade itself would feature intricate geometric patterns and bold, streamlined shapes that are characteristic of the Art Deco style. It should be made of a semi-translucent material, that can allow for a soft diffusion of light, creating an eerie atmosphere.
The lamp would be about 18-24 inches tall, a suitable size for a tabletop lamp. The color scheme should be dark, perhaps a deep sea-green for the base and a rich bronze for the lampshade.
Unique features could include a pressure-sensitive switch that’s integrated into the design, perhaps disguised as a seashell or an ancient relic lying at the foot of the Leviathan. Adding a dimmer could provide the user with the ability to change the intensity of the light, further enhancing the mysterious and moody vibe of the lamp.
Remember, the twisting, writhing shape of the Leviathan’s tentacles can be as intricate and otherworldly as you want – after all, this is a creature inspired by Lovecraft’s universe, where normal rules don’t always apply. The geometric patterns on the lampshade should contrast this with their regularity and symmetry, representing the man-made city of Rapture from BioShock. This combination of natural and artificial, mysterious and familiar, can make your product a truly unique piece.
